The Deronda Type F

The Type F is a lightweight, road legal car based on current formula racing car design concepts. It has a longitudinally, mid mounted engine with rear gearbox; high nose with low splitter; rear undertray venturis and F1 style suspension.

Unsurprisingly, the Type F immediate predecessor is a racing car designed specifically for the private hire and corporate entertainment market. This provides the performance of a racing car with the reliability and running costs of a road car and has been sold to companies in the UK and Latin America. A derivative is used at Rockingham.

Despite its racing car pedigree, road car practicality has been built into the Type F - for example, the cockpit may be heated by warm air ducted directly from the radiator, avoiding the weight penalty of a separate heater.

For extended road use in bad weather, a winter kit is available, comprising a two part glazed windscreen /canopy.

Undoubtedly, the best place to push the Type F to its limits is the race track. Most racing circuits in the UK now offer trackdays - an opportunity to drive your own car at your own pace - without concern for speed limits or oncoming traffic ... and with good safety standards in place.

Trackdays are open to novices and provide an unintimidating introduction to circuit driving.

Although comparisons with the Ariel Atom will always be made, the Deronda has its own unique look. The build quality really has to be seen; the workmanship is first class. ....

Piston Heads

When testing the 2004 F400 the Sunday Times said

"acceleration feels savage, exploding away from corners and acquiring three figure speeds seemingly in an instant. It's no less impressive in the corners ."

The model range comprises 200, 250 and 300 bhp versions of the Type F, designated F350, F425 and F500 respectively.
